Pacing yourself is key! \nThe winner is the fastest rider around the course\, and although there are no prizes on the night there are prizes at the end of the year for the overall series. \nOur evening time trials are open to Paragon members and non-members. DESCRIPTION:What: Individual time trial\nWhen: Tuesday\, June 27. 7.30pm (exact time TBC)\nWhere: Bletchingley course (GS335)\nHow far: 10.6 miles\nEntry online: CTT Website\nEntry fee: £3 \nSOCIAL EVENT: We’ll be going to the Bletchinlgey Arms after the TT for a drinks and food \nRace number seven is the big one\, our interclub TT against our decades old rivals the Addiscombe CC. Originally both the Paragon and the Addiscombe were Croydon based clubs and over the years a friendly rivalry emerged between the two. That rivalry lives on today and tonight’s interclub is the main event that gives bragging rights to either club. \nThe Addiscombe won in 2022 taking the title back that we’d won in 2021. Now we need to take it back again! We’ll be looking to get all our strongest riders out on the night\, and in good form. With six counters needed it’s essential to get a good turn out on the night and as this event typically gets a bigger field we ask that everyone who wants to ride lets the TT secretary know beforehand. \nThe undulating Bletchingley course is a good test and although faster on a TT bike a road bike is perfectly adequate around these roads. \n \nEvent details\nCycling time trial under the rules of the CTT. Start point: Waterhouse Lane\, Godstone. (W3W lifts.parks.fees). Open to road and time trial bikes. All riders must wear a helmet and have a working front and rear light attached to their bike.

SUMMARY:Club hill climb champs
DESCRIPTION:Come and take on the lung busting ascent of Ranmore hairpin and see where you rank amongst the club’s best climbers. The club champs is a popular event to ride and spectate at with people often gathering on the hairpin near the top of the climb to cheer people on.  \nThe last two years the event has been won in around 3:03 minutes\, with the fastest winning time being closer to 2:37mins\, for the short\, but steep climb up through the trees.  \nThe first rider off will be around 7:30pm but be sure to get there in good time and warm up. Please let Stephen Roach know whether or not you wish to ride before the event (club members can do so on any of the What’s App groups). Although if you turn up at the last minute\, we’ll fit you in.  \nThe race is followed by a club social at the Stepping Stones pub at the bottom of the climb in Westhumble\, between Dorking and Leatherhead. There is plenty of parking at the top of the hill\, nearest train station is Westhumble\, or it’s a five minute ride from either Dorking or Leatherhead.

SUMMARY:Club time trial #1 - Newdigate
DESCRIPTION:The first of the club’s 2022 evening time trials takes place on the 7.3mile Newdigate course today. The start is is on the Rusper road\, just south of Newdigate\, outside the car garage. First rider off at 7.30pm so please arrive before that in order to sign up and pin your number on. \nWe are holding our first club pub night of the year at the Six Bells pub (near the start line) after the race. Everyone is welcome from riders\, to spectators and potential new members. \nThe course \nHead south down Rusper road (toward Rusper) before turning left into Partridge lane and following it all the way round to the finish by the 30 mile-an-hour sign as you come back into Newdigate. The course is rolling\, but with no climbs. There is usually minimal traffic on the course\, but please look out for farm traffic and private driveways. Riders can use either a road or a TT bike. \nStart line location on What3words – honest.shorts.elaborate \nIn line with CTT regs\, all riders must wear a helmet and have a working front and rear light.

SUMMARY:Weekend club runs
DESCRIPTION:Just a Sunday ride this week\, to ease us into a broader spectrum of rides over the weeks ahead as covid restrictions ease. Last Sunday saw two groups out for a spin over to Petworth. A club staple\, but where anxious thoughts about a lack of training during lockdown evaporated once the wheels turned and muscle memory remembered. It was just so nice to ride in a group again (aww). \nThis Sunday we’ll head down to the coffee van at Kinsbrook Vineyard just outside West Chiltington. Familiar roads for Amberley devotees\, but a shorter run from Reigate. \nHere’s a route. \nWe’ll keep the format the same as last week. Two groups with leaders. We’ll line everyone up outside the shop\, and like a 70s primary school playground football match\, we’ll take turns to pick who’s in our teams. Or maybe we’ll just let you choose.
