DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 1.45hr gravel ride from the Inn on The Pond in Merstham as the summer finally lands in the UK. This week’s ride we’ll be trying something new with a route taking us northing up to Coulsdon Common\, Kenley Aerodrome\, Riddlesdown and then back via Warlingham and Woldingham. \nPlease bring lights as the evenings are drawing in\, especially if it’s overcast. This is a fun social ride but some off road skills are needed. We won’t however leave anyone behind and we’re never far from a road should anyone want to turn back.

SUMMARY:Interclub TT against the Redhill
DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled several times\, this time it’s finally on! Now that the course has been partly recycled and the weather is improving we’re going to take on the Redhill CC in the final summer TT of the 2023 series. \nPlease do come along and support your club\, interclubs are all about getting numbers out\, rather than being fast. This 9.9 mile course is run on quiet\, flat country lanes over three laps of a 3.3 mile circuit. \nSign on in Horne Park GC car park from 6.30pm\, first rider off at 7pm. It usually only costs a couple of quid an there’s often drinks in the bar afterwards. See you there!

DESCRIPTION:What: Individual time trial\nWhen: Tuesday\, June 27. 7.30pm (exact time TBC)\nWhere: Bletchingley course (GS335)\nHow far: 10.6 miles\nEntry online: CTT Website\nEntry fee: £3 \nSOCIAL EVENT: We’ll be going to the Bletchinlgey Arms after the TT for a drinks and food \nRace number seven is the big one\, our interclub TT against our decades old rivals the Addiscombe CC. Originally both the Paragon and the Addiscombe were Croydon based clubs and over the years a friendly rivalry emerged between the two. That rivalry lives on today and tonight’s interclub is the main event that gives bragging rights to either club. \nThe Addiscombe won in 2022 taking the title back that we’d won in 2021. Now we need to take it back again! We’ll be looking to get all our strongest riders out on the night\, and in good form. With six counters needed it’s essential to get a good turn out on the night and as this event typically gets a bigger field we ask that everyone who wants to ride lets the TT secretary know beforehand. \nThe undulating Bletchingley course is a good test and although faster on a TT bike a road bike is perfectly adequate around these roads. \n \nEvent details\nCycling time trial under the rules of the CTT. DESCRIPTION:Tonight’s time trial at Newdigate is our first interclub of the year against the Dorking CC. We’ll be hoping to toast another win at the Six Bells straight afterwards. The Paragon won this fixture two years ago\, but the race was cancelled at the last minute in 2022 when roadworks popped up on the circuit. Who will come out on top in 2023? We wait and see\, but whoever it is most of the riders will be in the pub to celebrate / commiserate afterwards. There’s plenty of outdoor seating\, so again\, safe to have bikes in view while outside.

This is a two lap course making for a 14 mile effort. The course is predominantly flat with four left turns and one very short climb. It’s a road mans course though\, with plenty of twists and turns requiring rider’s to keep their wits about them. \nOur evening time trials are open to anyone who is already a member of a CTT affiliated club and you can enter through the CTT website. DESCRIPTION:It’s back! One of the most popular events in the club’s social calendar is making a comeback in 2022 – the Paragon Christmas lunch. This year we’ll be returning to the Inn on the Pond in Merstham\, perhaps for the first time since 2010. \nThe Christmas lunch has always been a very informal affair with members encouraged to turn up on their bikes\, often straight from the (strangely competitive) downhill competition on Tillburstow Hill\, Godstone. Something else that we’re bringing back this year. Sadly it won’t be happening on the same day as the weather forecast is predicting sub-zero temperatures. \nThe event is now sold out as we’ve filled the pub. But all members are welcome to join us in the bar for a drink before we sit down to eat at 1pm.
