SUMMARY:Club hill climb champs
DESCRIPTION:Come and take on the lung busting ascent of Ranmore hairpin and see where you rank amongst the club’s best climbers. The club champs is a popular event to ride and spectate at with people often gathering on the hairpin near the top of the climb to cheer people on.  \nThe last two years the event has been won in around 3:03 minutes\, with the fastest winning time being closer to 2:37mins\, for the short\, but steep climb up through the trees.  \nThe first rider off will be around 7:30pm but be sure to get there in good time and warm up. Please let Stephen Roach know whether or not you wish to ride before the event (club members can do so on any of the What’s App groups). Although if you turn up at the last minute\, we’ll fit you in.  \nThe race is followed by a club social at the Stepping Stones pub at the bottom of the climb in Westhumble\, between Dorking and Leatherhead. There is plenty of parking at the top of the hill\, nearest train station is Westhumble\, or it’s a five minute ride from either Dorking or Leatherhead.

DESCRIPTION:Where: Stepping Stones pub\, Westhumble\nWhen: Tuesday\, August 2 \nOur August pub night is at the Stepping Stones pub near Dorking. This follows on from our club hill Climb championshions on the climb of Ranmore hairpin. This is a great event to try – a 3 – 5 minute effort\, depending on your fitness – and to watch. Club members tend to congregate on the hairpin corner near the top of the climb to cheer their clubmates on. \nFollowing the race\, we roll down the hill to the pub that has a good menu and plenty of indoor an outdoor seating. Come and join us to learn a bit more about the club\, who we are and what we’re all about. Everyone welcome.

DESCRIPTION:What: August monthly ride out\nWhen: Sunday\, August 7\, 9am\nStart/Finish: Maison du Velo\, Reigate\nDistance: 35-40 miles\nApprox speed: 16mph (depends on ability of the group) \nCome and join us for a sociable 2:30 hour ride out to Hever and back from our base in Reigate. Our ride leaders will take you on a tour of quiet Surrey and Kent lanes before grabbing a coffee back at the Maison du Velo cafe. \n \nThe route above is shown as a guide. We will alter the route according to the ability of people in the group\, and the weather conditions.  \nOur monthly ride outs are open to anyone with a road bike\, who is confident riding on the road for 2-2:30 hours. The ride is lead by a first aid trained\, qualified coach who will be assisted by at least one other member of the club. We will get everyone back to the end point\, but please bring with you a spare inner tube\, pump and mini tool kit just in case. Also bring water and any food you might need while riding (energy/cereal bars\, bananas etc.) No other equipment needed.
