Round 9 – Horne July 20 Interclub v Redhill
We were back to winning ways in the final TT of our summer series, beating the Redhill CC by a few seconds. President Stephen Roach secured a new scoring format for the race with the five fastest men and fastest women being the counters. This meant Jennie Murdoch, a regular at Redhill’s TTs played a crucial role in the win, despite the fact we were heavily outnumbered by their riders.
Jon Masters was the fastest for us on the night, but Sam Greenwood ran out winner of the overall series after taking second place. All Sam needed to do was finish ahead of Colin Gray to secure the win, and this he did by three places. Congratulations to Sam.
Norwood Paragon total time – 133:56min
Redhill CC total time – 134:26min
Round 8 – Newdigate July 12
Some warm weather saw a good turn out for tonights event as nine riders (seven Paragon’s and two guests) took on the short circuit just south of Dorking. Simon Richardson grabbed his first win of the season and the standings at the top of the table just got a whole lot closer.
Sam Greenwood has taken the lead on 28 points with Colin Gray one point behind on 27. Simon Richardson sits in third with 24 points. Looks like it will go down to our last evening TT of the season, the Inter club against the Redhill, next Wednesday, July 20th.
Round 7 – Bletchingley June 28 Interclub v Addiscombe CC
Unfortunately we weren’t able to defend the interclub trophy won so brilliantly last year as the Addiscombe both outnumbered and outgunned us on the night. They had very kindly agreed to alter the number of counters needed to five as that is how many we were able to field on the night, but they still ran out clear winners, beating us by five minutes and 12 seconds.
Chris Moores did give us bragging rights with the fastest time. He logged an incredible time of 25:54 mins, what we think is the sixth fastest time set by a Paragon member around this course and the second fastest on a road bike. We hope Chris will take this form to the National 100 TT in July.
Addiscombe total time 139:45min
Paragon total time 144:57min
Addiscombe win by 5:12min
Round 6 – Newdigate, June 22 CANCELLED DUE TO ROAD WORKS
Round 5 – Crowhurst, June 7 CANCELLED
Round 4 – Bletchingley, May 31 CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
Round 3 – Holmwood, May 17
The first interclub of 2022 ended in defeat as we managed to field just three riders on the Holmwood ten course, south of Dorking. Marcus Brueton was the fastest of the three, on his road bike, but we were outnumbered and outgunned on the night by a stronger club. Congratulations to the Epsom.
Riders listed are just those from the Epsom and NPCC, others competed on the night.
Round 2 – Newdigate, May 10
Adrian Blacker returned to take his second win in the Paragon’s 2022 evening time trial series, improving his time from last week and beating the Paragon’s Sam Greenwood by nine seconds. Jon Masters finished third with his debut ride in this year’s series. All riders who rode last week improved their times and Sam Greenwood extended his lead at the top of the series.
Round three takes place next week (May 17) on the Holmwood course south of Dorking while round four at the end of May runs on the longer sporting Bletchingley circuit near Godstone.
Round 1 – Newdigate, May 3
Former member Adrian Blacker came back to take the first win in Norwood Paragon’s evening time trial series as a slow night meant no one ducked under 18 minutes. Adrian, who has been competing in time trials all spring pipped Sam Greenwood by just one second to take the honours.
Ride of the night however went to Neil Kelsall in his first ever race (on a road bike). He finished just eleven seconds behind Adrian Blacker on a full TT rig with an excellent aero position. Next came still-to-be-confirmed 2021 series winner Simon Richardson back after a bout of Covid had kept him off the bike for a while.
This page will be updated with the results of each event as we go through the summer.
