Paragon beat Dorking CC at Newdigate

On Tuesday night a strong Norwood Paragon squad beat Dorking CC in the first of the interclub time trials this year.

Dorking's Dan Cole beat the Paragon's James Stuart (pictured crossing the line) to the overall win with his 17.14 to Stuart's 17.21, but the rest of the Paragon's top six all clocked 18-minute rides whereas Dorking's last counter completed the 7.4-mile Newdigate circuit in 20.51. That handed Norwood Paragon the overall victory by a fairly convincing margin of four minutes 37 seconds.

It was a warm but not super-fast evening, with some riders complaining that it had been "a bit blowy round the back" – the top-gear Partridge Lane section – possibly impeding the progress of Stuart, on his road bike, more than it did the fastest Dorking man Cole on his TT rig.

Twenty riders in all competed and all decamped to the Six Bells afterwards.

Thanks to timekeepers Keith Butler and Dave Adams.

The next evening TT is the interclub against the Addiscombe CC on July 4 on the Bletchingley circuit.
