The club’s anniversary weekend proved a successful one, with three top ten results despite challenging conditions.

Development riders George Skinner and Jack Wyllie claimed third and eighth place respectively at the Wyndymilla promoted Surrey League Road Race on April 8.

The 60-mile course around Surrey’s Seale proved tough, with rain throughout adding to difficulty.

The race was Skinner's season debut, and he seems to be in fine form following a warm weather training camp in Mallorca.

Days later, Skinner moved one step up the podium at the Thruxton race course crits, with a second place following a three lap break.

Wyllie has competed in two National B's already this year - racing the Tour of the Marshes E123 and Dulwich Paragon Wally Gimber Trophy, both in March.

Over in Buckinghamshire, Michelle Arthurs-Brennan flew the flag for the new women's team and scraped a top ten at the Lovelli Cinelli road race.

A field of over 70 riders gathered for the 115km race, which was won by British Cycling development rider Abbie Dentus (Team Breeze), who out sprinted Karla Boddy (Le Filles) from a reduced bunch of around 15 after an attacking race.

Other results from Michelle this year include a win at Sussex Cycle Racing League's Preston Park crit in March and a third place overall at the Full Gas track league at Lee Valley.

The testers were also out in club colours, riding the Sussex Cyclists' Association 2-Up time trial.

Whilst Sunday was mostly dominated by rain, Saturday's anniversary ride - which marked 114 years of Norwood Paragon club rides - gave a glimpse of spring, with a group of riders meeting to enjoy the lanes between Maison du Velo in Reigate and the Cock Inn in Headley, with others arriving later for a more leisurely lunch.
