Fancy testing your legs and your fitness this year? The Norwood Paragon, Reigate’s premier cycling club, is holding a series of time trials throughout the summer on various recognised courses near to Reigate.
A time trial is a race ridden on your own in which you set a time, over a specific distance. Riders are then ranked by their time, with the fastest rider named as the winner. There’s no drafting (sitting or sheltering behind another rider to benefit from a draft effect), just each rider going as fast as they can.
It’s a great way to test your fitness and see where your limits are. Pacing yourself over the distance and terrain is also a great skill to acquire.
Our summer evening time trials are friendly affairs and there will always be someone there to offer advice or support if you wanted to come and give it a go. Several of these events are ‘interclubs’ where we race against other local clubs and then go for a drink afterwards.
Entry fee is just £3 and non members are welcome. Please do contact us if you’re interested in coming along we can then give you more information. Email address below.
The courses we used are based in Newdigate, North Holmwood, Bletchingley and Crowhurst the majority of which are on quiet country roads. Click on an event to be taken through to the event page where you’ll find more information on start location and the courses.
Anyone riding a time trial must wear a helmet and have a working front and rear light.
